Brewer's Notes: One of the business partners of Mystery had a wedding in 2016, and asked if we could make a beer for it. The answer: of course.
He LOVES porters. They are by far his favorite style, and he gave this directive: A caramelly porter, with little-to-no roasted bitterness, and no smokiness. At the same time, we had to make something that was distinct enough from our core beer Jack Thorne, which is also a porter. That's where the chocolate came in.
The recipe ended up being the most specialty grain heavy beer I have ever brewed as I tried to layer nuance on top of nuance. The end result is lovely: smooth, rich, delicious, with somewhat of a Hershey's syrup aftertaste.
A really outstanding beer for a really outstanding couple. Congrats, Patrick and Tracy.
